Vesela Dimitrova

Trainer

Vesela has graduated Hartpury University with a degree in Human Animal Interaction and has always loved dogs, ever since her family got their first dog when she was about 7.

This is why when she had the chance to train a dog for one of her second year modules at university she went home for the Easter holidays in order to meet and train her friend’s dog Mozzarella. She is a Maremma Sheepdog which had no previous training at the age of 3, so was a little bit challenging, since it was also her first time training a dog. Within a week I managed to teach her to sit down, give paw, and lie. It felt super rewarding and satisfying to see her work out what I want from her. There were some challenging moments, as it is not always easy to figure out the way dogs think and see the world, but that just made it even more satisfying in the end when we both figured it out.

This was when she decided that this is what she want to do for the rest of her life, so started volunteering at another dog training school in Cheltenham which she had been doing for a number of months. She heard about the Trainer Mentorship programme at Barking Buds when Beth came to do a talk in one of her lectures and she knew that this was the opportunity to start doing what she wanted to do with her life, and become a dog trainer.
